20-22/05 Tuesday-Thursday. Classes 12-13

Hello!

Today we´ve been talking about Animals and learnt some names (goose, goat, sheep, deer, monkey, a polar bear etc.). If you want to practise and learn more animals, check these links out:

Today we learnt some new phrasal verbs:

take up - to fill a particular amount of time or space:
The project will take up most of your time.
Old books take up all space in the office.

look after - to take care of smb by helping them:
Don´t worry, I´ll look after your kids tomorrow.

clean out - to make the inside of smth (house, room) clean:
We´d better clean out the attic this weekend.

We also revised the use of the article "the" with geographical names. Practise more:

13-15/05 Tuesday-Thursday. Classes 10-11

Hello!
Sorry for a small delay in our blog.

We´ve started a new topic "The World Around Us" and learnt a lot of new words (a mountain, a cliff, a stream, an ocean, a sea, a swamp, a lake, a hill, a desert etc.)

Let´s revise the vocabulary! Watch a video and repeat the words:

Also we revised the adjectives and the nouns:
deep - depth
wide - width
high - height
long - length

How long is a river? - It´s 3 km long.
How high is a mountain? - It´s 6 000 m high.

We revised the comparative and superlative degrees of the adjectives. We found out some record-breaking animals and places:
What´s the largest animal in the world?
What´s the deepest ocean in the world?
What´s the most populated city in the world? etc.

6/05-8/05 Tuesday-Thursday. Classes 8-9

Hello
Last week in the context of the topic "Travelling" we were talking about Trip Prepration. 
We learnt some new expressions and phrases (apply for a visa, book a flight, reserve a hotel room, buy  guidebook, change some money, pack) etc.
We also did some listening about people´s plans and preparations for holidays.

I´m going to Egypt, I need to get a visa, to book  flight etc.

We learn some new grammar as well - Modal verbs (must/mustn´t, should shouldn´t, can/can´t):
You must pay a ticket in the bus. (a rule)
You mustn´t smoke here. (prohibition)
You can have some coffee here. (giving permission)
You can´t bring your own drinks. (prohibition - mild)
You should put on a helmet. (advice)
You shouldn´t go out when you feel sick. (advice)

We ´ve been practising a lot modal verbs last class: describing places using modal verbs, making our own rules and regulations for our Modal Hotel.

Also we learnt some conversational expressions:
I´d like to ... - Would you like to ... ?
I want to ... - Do you want to ... ?
I´d rather ...

We use them when we want to ask smb to go out or make an offer.

Your homework is to answer the questions about a trip you would like to take.
