29/04 Tuesday. Class 7

Hello

Today we continued talking about holidays. We checked your homework and learnt some words:
accomodation - hotel, double/single room, resort, bed and breakfast, camp, tent
destination - city, countryside, campsite, abroad
activities - take a guided tour, go rafting, go skiing, take a bus tour

We were practising using these exressions:
When you go to the mountains, you can go skiing or go for a walk. You will need skis and ski poles.
When you go abroad, you can go sightseeing or take a guided tour. You will need plane tickets, a passport, a map etc.

We also did some listening where a man was talking about his holiday plans.
Where is he going? - to Argentina.
What are his plans? - First, he´s going to take a guided tour around the city. Then he´s going to take a train to the mountains. After that he´s going to go backpacking with his friends. Then he´s going skiing. Finally, he´s going to take a bus tour to some other cities in Argentina.

We talked about different customs and traditions in other countries using "should/shouldn´t":
You should unwrap presents in fron of your guests in Spain.
You shouldn´t eat everything on your plate in Egypt.

Your homework is to study other model verb in your copy (can, must/mustn´t) and do the exercises.

22-24/04 Tuesday-Thursday. Classes 5-6

Hello

This week we were talking about Holidays. We revised Past Simple while talking about holidays we took. We read a text about one couple and their "unusual" holiday.

Also we revised Present Simple and "be going to" when talking about planning the future holidays:
Where are you going?
Where are you staying?
When are you going?

We learnt some means of transport and their advantages and disadvantages:
car, train, plane, bus, underground, bike, ferry, taxi etc.

Watch a video and learn new vocabulary about Transport - Video Link

Also watch one more video and do listening tasks there - Video Task

We were comparing different means of transport and revised comparative and superlative degrees:
Travelling by car is more comfortable than by bus, it´s also cheaper than by plane.
A plane is more expensive than a train.

Here´s a link, read the article about transport in London and do the exercises: Reading Link

Pay attention to the pronunciation when you make the comparisons (neutral sound - e "schwa"):
Pronunciation Link

Also we learnt some vocabulary on the topic "At the Airport" (boarding pass, to board, a suitcase, to check in, aisle seat, window seat, to land, to take off, luggage, baggage claim, to fasten the seat belts, conveyor belt) etc.

Watch a video and learn the vocabulary - Video Link

Watch a video how to check in at the airport - Video Check in

We also read a text about different customs and traditions in other countries.

Can you compare these traditions with your culture? What is polite and what is absolutely unacceptable in Spain?

08-10/04 Tuesday-Thursday. Classes 3-4

Hello

This week we´ve been practising a lot all types of future. We practised "to be going to" in predicting future:
What is going to happen? - He´s going to fall, there´s a hole in the ground.

Practise this case with this link - "What is going to happen?"

Also we learnt and practised Present Continuous for future actions:
What´re you doing tomorrow?
I´m playing tennis with Mike.

Also we learnt some expressions that we use to invite somebody out, accept the invitation or refuse:
Would you like to go to the cinema tonight?
Shall we go to the restaurant?
Let´s watch a film.
What/how about eating out? (mind, here we use Gerund)

Hmm, I´m not sure.
Sorry, I can´t.
I´d love to, but I have to study.

Sure, no problem.
That´s a great idea.
Ok, why not.

Practise Present Cont. and the expressions with this link - "Present continuous for future arrangements".

We revised as well how to ask special questions:
What are you doing this week?
Where are you going?
Who are you going with?
How are you travelling?
Where are you staying?
When are you leaving?

Practise some listening with this link and do the exercises on-line - Plans for the Night.

On Thursday we started writing the test, but didn´t finish. So, we´re going to finish it after vacations!

Have a very good holiday, enjoy your time and Happy Easter!!!

03/04 Thursday. Class 2

Hello

Today we´ve been talking a lot about grammar. We revised the use of "will" and "be going to" and learnt that also "will" is used for on-the spot decisions:
I feel seepy! - Oh, I´ll make you some coffee.

"be going to" is also used for predictions based on the evidence that we can see clearly:
There are a lot of clouds in the sky, it´s going to rain.

Practise more with the exercises:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Also we learnt a new point in grammar - Present Continuous for future. We use it to express future arrangements:
I´m flying to Paris next week. (it´s already arranged)

Pracise with the exercises:
Link 1
Link 2

Here´s a link for watching and listening, practise the use of Present Cont. for future:
Video "What are you doing tomorrow?"

Your homework is to do the exercises in your copies.
